The Georgetown University NAIMUN Overseas Academic Exchange Program consists of three main modules: MUN Conference, University Visits and Societal Observation.

Part 1
North American Invitation Model United Nations

With a distinguished 62-year history, NAIMUN holds its annual conference each February in Washington, D.C., standing as the largest MUN conference in the Western Hemisphere. Organized by the Georgetown International Relations Association, the conference is academically supported by Georgetown University―repeatedly ranked #1 in the United States for its international relations and diplomacy programs, and widely regarded as a " cradle of diplomats. " Each year, NAIMUN attracts over 3,000 middle school students from across the globe to take part in this premier diplomatic simulation.

As the flagship program of the Georgetown University International Relations Association, NAIMUN has established the "gold standard" in global Model United Nations through over six decades of refinement since its founding in the 1960s. Its influence permeates youth leadership development systems across the United States and the wider Western Hemisphere.

For over six decades, the conference has maintained an unbroken commitment to cultivating diplomatic skills among youth. It stands as the longest-running and most consistently upheld benchmark in the U.S. MUN circuit, having witnessed the beginnings of generations of diplomatic talent.

Over the four-day conference, delegates simultaneously negotiate more than 20 topics, collectively generating over ten thousand mock resolutions. This scale consistently ranks NAIMUN as the largest MUN conference in the Western Hemisphere.

Get closer to elite university admission:

For decades, the leadership, cooperation, passion for international affairs, global citizenship, community awareness and organizational skills demonstrated by students in MUN have played a positive role in successful applications to world-renowned universities (especially prestigious universities in Europe and America). Simultaneously, an increasing number of domestic universities in China focus on students' comprehensive qualities and extracurricular experiences during independent enrollment processes, with MUN being listed as an important extracurricular activity. MUN is recognized by the United Nations as one of the most effective educational vehicles for enhancing students' 21st-century core competencies and cultivating future global leaders.Delegates can receive a certificate of participation issued by NAIMUN upon successful completion of the four-day conference.

Submit Application

Scan the code for registration.

Language Assessment

Within one week of submitting the application form, staff from the organizing committee will contact the applicant. Applicants are required to complete a language assessment so we can better understand each candidate.

 

Students who can provide standardized language test scores may have the opportunity to be exempt from the interview. Award-winning delegates of the 15th Harvard Model United Nations China (HUMNC) may use their award certificates to waive the language proficiency test and qualify for direct entry to the 63th North American Invitational MUN (NAIMUN).

Admission Notification

Within three days of completing the language assessment, the organizing committee will issue admission notifications to qualified candidates. Those who receive the admission notice must complete the signing of the program agreement and pay the relevant fees within one week. Failure to sign and pay within the deadline will be considered a forfeiture of the spot.

Academic Training

The organizing committee will assign committees and countries to each student based on their interview/language assessment results and the order of application.

Pre-conference academic guidance will be provided through in-person classes, online training and remote Q&A sessions.

05.

Visa Processing

The organizing committee will assist formal participants who do not already possess a valid US visa (B1/B2) in applying for one. The specific process and timeline for visa application will be informed from the organizing committee via email .
